TED AND JUDY OLSEN

Picture
Ted and Judy Olsen serve with the DAWN Global Network. Their focus is on the Unreached People Groups (UPGs) of the world.

Research shows that there are roughly still 6000 UPGs where there are few to zero Christians and no churches. This is usually due to radical religions, such as Islam, Hinduism or Buddhism, geographical remoteness, illiteracy, abject poverty and negative social realities such as India's caste system.

Ted is working with agencies who are prepared to help fund social concern projects, such as bore holes, to provide water for villagers in India. "The villagers are thrilled to have good water and are ready to receive Indian church planters who bring the Gospel, pray for the sick, and plant home fellowships among the new believers," says Ted.

Judy focuses on the reality of illiteracy, which remains one of the big roadblocks to bringing the Gospel to these cultures. By sending in teams of story tellers who know how to share the Gospel through Bible stories, illiterate people groups are more than willing to listen to Bible stories in their mother tongue. The response is that many believe and churches are started.

India remains the main area of focus. Project among the UPGs in Nepal, Bhutan and Myanmar (Burma) are also developing. A new UPG project in China is also now in the research phase.
